Your Monero is only as secure as your backup. Learn the basics of safe storage.

Part 1: Understand Seed Phrase
$ [1/2] seed --explain
25 words (Monero standard)
These words ARE your wallet
Whoever has them, has your Monero
They work in ANY Monero wallet
No password can protect them if exposed
$ [2/2] seed --locate
Cake Wallet: Settings > Wallet > Show seed
Feather: Wallet > Seed
Monero GUI: Settings > Seeds & Keys
Write down ALL 25 words on paper
Order is IMPORTANT
Part 2: Secure Your Seed
$ [1/3] backup --method paper
Write on PAPER, not digitally
No screenshots, no photos, no cloud
Use a pen, not a pencil
Write legibly and check every letter
$ [2/3] backup --verify
Create the wallet FRESH with your seed
Check if the same address appears
If yes: Your backup works
If no: Check seed again
$ [3/3] backup --store --locations 2
Store AT LEAST 2 copies
In different locations (e.g., home + safe deposit)
Protect from: fire, water, theft
Optional: Metal backup for long-term
Your seed is now securely stored.
